Thermal engine

Since its creation, Sherpa Engineering is involved in the activities of design and validation of powertrain applications for automobiles and trucks.

SHERPA ACTIVITIES

  • Dynamic modelling of powertrains conform to norm Euro 3,4,5,6
    • diesel supercharged single or multi-injection
    • manual box, robotized or automatic

STUDIES

  • consumption and pollution during dynamic cycles, hot and cold engine

  • development of control laws for engines and gear boxes based on modelling technologies

  • data analysis, coherence analysis and estimation of the engine parameters

  • diagnosis : diagnosis of the engine health

  • Validation and closed loop testing (controller model + physical model) for each phase of the cycle

PRODUCTS

From its expertise in modeling and control, Sherpa has developed a platform for simulation and validation tools.
These tools support the life cycle of drive-train (engine, gearbox, steering system, sensors and actuators).

  • Description of the model
    • Basic model : it represents all kinds of engine architectures (diesel, gasoline or gas) with or without turbocharger.
    • Library of models : Sherpa refers to methodologies PhiGraph© and PhiSim©
    • Module for engine cooling (Add on) : includes thermal effects (water, oil, air) and their links with the engine
    • Combustion Module (Add on) : gathers combustion and coupling with the thermo-fluid and mechanics. This module includes pollutants calculation
    • Fuel system (Add on) for fuel injection (single ou multi-injections)
    • Control Module (Add on) : this simplified module includes the actuators of the air and fuel circuits (EGR, Turbo, VVT,...). It represents the strategies and operating modes : ralenti, coupure d’injection.
    • Post-processing module (Add on) : représente chemical effects inside the systems DPF, catalyst and SCR.
    • Utilities : Module for calibration, parametrization and validation
