An important quality of the water is its Saturation Index which defines if the water is scaling up or aggressive.

The technology Model Based Predictive Control was applied to the Méry-sur-Oise factory for taking into account the non linearity coming from the pH. This was done by a fine modelling a the chemical reaction.

The challenge was to produce water at the specified quality right at the start-up of the production of a 170 000 m3/day of drinkable water.

Using the model in a simulator and the tests applied to a pilot plant made it possible to satisfy these specifications.
