Temperature control reactor with an external heat exchanger

The capacity of the reactor is so high that the jacket is replaced by circulation of the product through an external heat exchanger.


The control of the reactor temperature T1 is performed by a cascade of 3 PCR controllers handling successively T3, T2 and T1.


The manipulated variable is the 3-way valve which distributes the fluid of the secondary loop between the steam way and the cooling way.


The target of the application is :

  • suppress the useless variations of the 3-way valve (heating and cooling actions) during the raectant addition.
  • avoid temperature overshoots when reaching each new set point value
